Asthma Diary application

Asthma diary is an advanced application for the monitoring of medication consumption in asthma therapy. It enables users to save their medication usages, set reminders, create reports, and connect with physical devices that gather and transfer medical data to the user's phone or a medical platform.

My work at this project

I was tasked with the re-design of a live application through incremental updates based on priority. This process included research, evaluation, and solution development to ensure the application met user needs and maintained a high level of functionality.

The first phase involved thorough research. This included investigating asthma and the needs of asthma patients to ensure the application addressed their specific requirements. The existing system requirements and limitations were also examined. A study of similar applications was conducted to identify best practices, and feedback from the existing user base was gathered and analyzed to identify areas for improvement. The evaluation phase involved a comprehensive assessment of the current application. This included complete mapping of the existing application to understand its structure and functionality. A heuristic evaluation was performed, focusing on action feedback, clarity of system state, and design consistency.

Changes were prioritized through a triage process. Additionally, the existing information architecture and user flows were identified and evaluated to pinpoint areas needing improvement. The solutions phase focused on creating cohesive and consistent design updates. Repeating elements such as fonts, colors, cards, dialogs, buttons, and navigation bars were unified for a more consistent look and feel. Action feedback was standardized to ensure clarity for users. A cohesive writing tone and narration were developed to improve communication within the application. Alternate user flows and methods of data depiction were proposed based on user tests.

Close collaboration with the development team was maintained to implement these changes effectively.
